[One of my favorite acts of the night had to be Trap Yoga Bae, who walked us through various ratchet affirmations and VERY Black yoga poses such as how to "back that ass up like Juvenile into a downward facing dog pose" or the "secure the bag pose." She was entertaining and I felt represented in so many ways....] read more by clicking article

Rolling Out - Who’s down for some trap yoga? You read that right: trap yoga. What is it you say? Well, some say that trap music and yoga could be polar opposites. Some may even say that they go together like fried chicken goes with waffles: two unconventional pairs but when put together the right way it’s a very good mix. Britteny Floyd-Mayo hails from Oakland, California, also known as Trap Yoga Bae, is on a mission to prove this theory right. She has found a way to incorporate the latest trap music craze into her upbeat and empowering yoga sessions.

MadameNoire - Have you ever been to a yoga class filled with a majority of Black women? Before Britteny Floyd-Mayo, otherwise known as TrapYogaBae, brought Trap Yoga to Brooklyn this week, I hadn’t. I’d gone to many different types of yoga classes, including the hot ones, but the makeup was often the same — I would be one of the few women of color in the space, and I felt like I needed to perform at a certain level to look like I belonged. I needed to truly tell my brain to shut up so that I could focus on my breathing like everyone else. Despite being tall and curvy and having locs that flopped in my face during poses, I need to be more like a wallflower. But in Trap Yoga, you just need to focus on doing you.

Insomniac - I’m not usually a fan of yoga classes. I ran out of the room practically in tears at the last one I tried, before discovering Trap Yoga and awakening my inner ratchet. Led by the inspiring and genial Yoga Bae, who hails from Oakland and most often teaches her nationally roaming class in San Francisco, Trap Yoga features vinyasa yoga set to loud and gloriously nasty beats. You may have heard the word namaste, but did you know that chanting “Percocets, Molly, Percocets” along with Future’s “Mask Off” can be incredibly stress-relieving without having to actually pop any pills? It’s one of many lessons learned here at Trap Yoga, including having the power to say no to “fuckbois” and that the silver tongues of Cardi B and Nicki Minaj can help you hit your perfect downward dog, which is “the favorite pose of all the freak hoes,” according to Yoga Bae.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - One day, she got the bright idea to attend traditional yoga classes with Bluetooth headphones blasting trap in her ears. "I would be in classes doing Downward Dog and my ear buds would fall out and they would hear the music," she said. She got some strange looks, but no one told her to stop.

Raw Story - A friend who had a studio asked if she would want to teach a trap yoga class. Rogers agreed, and the 60-person class she signed up to teach sold out in just a few hours. And it kept selling out over and over. At the first class, she was overwhelmed.
